While standing in the threshold of changes in my life, in a year filled with initiation after initiation, a Bobcat family appeared like magic and took up residence on the land just beyond my living room windows.
Come join me in the wonder, wild beauty, and love that are so very much alive, right here within our reach, ready and waiting to be seen and felt, held close and openly shared.
The web of relationships in and around my home gave me hints that Bobcats were around. Lily, the once feral mama cat who lives with me, spent the morning peering out through the screen door and walking through the house in soundless stealth mode. Crouched low. Slow motion steps. No purring. No meows.
Later in the afternoon, I saw a Road Runner perched on the very top of an antennae on the roof of the neighboring house. A flock of Ravens swooped low through the trees, circling around my casita, filling the air with raucous cackles and caws. Birds often talk about what is happening on the ground.
I first caught sight of the Bobcats when I noticed a clump of something high up in a tree. Curious, I stepped closer and saw something move. A bit of brown fur. Little pointed ears peeking up through the leaves. A deep rumbling hum floated through the air. Though I couldn’t see her, I understood Mama Bobcat was letting me know I was much too close to her babies. I went inside and watched through the windows, not wanting to stress the family.

I spent the next couple weeks enchanted by the Bobcat family. They made themselves right at home on the land just beyond my living room windows.
Bobcats are ushering in passages of change. Birthing a new generation. Continuing the sacred flow of creation. Weaving new relationships in the web of life.
She’s a very young mama tending her babies in a season of drought. The Bobcat family is co-existing with humans who are taking over more and more space while wilderness and natural beauty are permitted so very much less.
Still Bobcats are living full on in their bobcatness. The little ones endlessly play, exploring their terrain, honing their climbing and chasing skills. Mama Bobcat is keenly attentive while at ease in her feline body, interacting and watching over, resting and hunting and feeding her young, purposefully protecting and caring for the precious new lives.
Bobcats show the beauty of relationship, evident in their sweet family of three. The wildcats stand rooted in their kinship and belonging in an ever changing landscape, in an always shifting world. Changes are taking place in their daily lives. Changes will unfold through the seasonal cyles and in the generations to come.
Bobcats are steadily walking on all fours in the spiraling dance of life. They’ve seeded flourishing aliveness in this land that has known harshness, harm, and destruction. They’ve brought gifts of joy, play, lovingness, and connection into the completion of cycles in my life just as beautiful openings into the new unfold.
Bobcat is showing how essential it is to purposefully give energy, time, and attention to nourish what it is we are wanting to grow.

And remember to rest.

Bobcats carry millions of years of ancestral intelligence that has never been documented with numbers, machines, or words. Intelligence is embodied in their feline bodies, minds, and spirits, in their purposes as Bobcat, in their part in the web of life, in their knowings of the earth. They carry knowledge gathered up through lived experiences over extensive passages of time.
Intelligence lives in their integrity as Bobcats, in the genius of countless generations continuing their existence through changing climates and ecosystems, through all kinds of happenings catalyzed by all kinds of events involving all kinds of beings in all kinds of places on earth.

No matter how many data collection centers get built and regardless of the claims of AI, there is no way to contain or calculate or convey the extraordinary knowledge and immense intelligence Bobcats hold.
It’s living in their DNA. It’s in their blueprint for life. It’s imprinted in the nomadic paths they’ve travelled. It’s held in the trees where they rest.
Bobcat stories are carried in the minerals left behind when their bodies return to the soils of the earth. Knowings are passed on Bobcat to Bobcat, through the bobcat lineages in different lands and times, in ways only Bobcats know.
And still, we are in relationship with each other. We are companions on earth where relationships are essential for the continuance of life.
Slowing down to observe, quieting the noise, setting aside stress, rush and distractions, allow spaciousness for relationships to grow.
Letting go of the lies of judgments, and bringing an end to labeling self and others as good or bad, better than or less, lovable or not, will free us up to experience genuine kinship, connectedness, and belonging.
Holding ceremony, giving offerings, feeling sacred regard for all life, weaves us into relationship and close communication with all that exists within and beyond the physical.
Being in relationship is not about being the same. Sameness and monocultures don’t generate a thriving web of life. One language can not speak for all.
When we craft our relationships with curiosity and respect, connecting within while reaching toward one another, Living Being to Living Being, Intelligence to Intelligence, Ancientness to Ancientness, Heart to Heart…
we will touch and be touched by the very nature of nature, our genuine human nature and the incredible uniqueness of others’ genuine nature, feeling the sensation of aliveness that weaves us together;
we’ll remember that Life is not a system built out of hatred and lies and punishment or rewards.
When we weave our interconnectedness within and all around, we’ll enter a realm of mystery because there is always more to awaken and learn and remember about our very own selves and everybody else.
There is so much more going on than we will ever really know in anybody’s life, with all the species on earth, in a single conversation, in each interaction and crossing of paths.
The knowledges and potentials that life itself holds are immense and exquisite, so intricate and complex, perpetually expanding through passages of experiences and time.
Relationships are the threads that weave the tapestry together.
Love is the blueprint for the continuance of life.
