We are living in times when many voices are calling for less violence and hate and more acceptance and love. We are standing in a long line of generations who have been shouting these words, singing these words, and living and dying for these words. Is anybody listening? And who are we trying to reach?
To create a more loving world, we’ll need to aim healing attention inside. The inner landscape, our interior worlds, are not the only spaces where change and transformation take place. Yet without the inner shifts, we’ll habitually perpetuate judgments and lies about who’s superior and better and who’s inferior and not-good-enough.
We’ve turned love into something that requires proof that you (or they) are lovable all the while proclaiming why you (or they) are not. We’ve turned love into something that comes with strings attached. It’s unreliable, inconsistent, and out of reach.
These hierarchical patterns are the foundations for the out-of-balance ways in our human relationships, social systems, and daily lives. These beliefs justify judgments and set warring, inequity, and abuse firmly in place.
Unconditional Love is an immense field of energy with a particular vibration. Love exists in the nature of the cosmos and in the very blueprints for creation. Love is an ancient body of knowledge that’s woven into the web of life on earth.
To have more love in our lives and a more loving world, we’ll need to become familiar with how this dynamic field of energy feels in our cells, bodies, spirits, and minds. We’ll need to learn and remember what it is like when such vast unwavering love is given and received being to being, body to body, one species to another, heart to heart.
Perhaps we’ll need new language to describe this energy because “love” has been shamed, silenced, distorted, and misused.
Countless other-than-human-species are rooted in this thing called Love that lives on through extensive cycles of change and time. Love is an ancient living legacy, existing in the stardust we are made of. We are touching and being touched by this energy field everyday.
Love lives in the natural cycles on our earth. No judgments of better-than or less about day and night, changing seasons, moon phases, and the ebbs and flow of ocean tides. All of it matters. Every bit belongs.
Love is alive when hummingbirds, whales, and caribou follow their ancestral migratory paths. Love lives underground in the interactive communications flowing through mycelium networks.
Love fills the air when the sun and rain enrich the soils who nourish the wildflowers who welcome the pollinators and feed many unique forms of life.
Love gets loud when elephants reunite with their family, even if they’ve been apart for a very short time. Elephants’ greeting ceremonies are wild boisterous events as the elders and little ones run toward each other, kicking up dust with their padded feet. They trumpet, flap their ears, and raise their trunks to the sky. Touching body to body, they welcome each other with open-hearted delight, weaving again and again, day after day, their vital family bonds.
Pure Love is expressed in the ways one generation passionately tends to the next, holding sacred the promise of the continuance of life. Love lives inside birthings as well as dying, losses, and grief.
Love is filled with the knowing that it is everybody’s birthright to be free to be who they are. Diversity and interconnections are essential for a thriving web of life. Monocultures and isolation are not the direction that the Love~in~the~Universe naturally flows.
In this tender and precious moment we are here on earth, we have the opportunity to remember Love as our nature, to come back home to the wholeness of our humanness, and bring Love alive in our inner and outer landscapes.
When embodying Love, this energy field radiates far beyond your body, touching others and shaping life.
When embodying Love, you become a loving human who seeds the possibility for a loving humanity who together remembers how to build a harmonious heart-centered world.
