As we enter new cycles in our lives and on our earth, we may find ourselves searching for guidance to find our way in our changing world. Here is what we were shown in a community ceremony about these significant Turning of the Times…
The Spirits describe this time in our lives, personally and collectively, as a confluence of rivers. On the body of our earth, confluences are places where rivers meet up. Their waters mix. Sediments swirl around. Colors change. Ecosystems rearrange. Prevailing currents shift. New riverbeds and watery pathways eventually form.
Much mystery still remains in the scientific studies of the confluences of rivers. There are unanswerable questions about the hows and the whys of the intricate details and redesigned relationships and untrackable streams of change-making that have wide-ranging ripple effects. Some confluences are highly charged joinings with colliding momentums creating dramatic turbulence. Some confluences of once divergent rivers are gentle blendings which shape slow-moving tributaries and soft eddying pools.
However this creative encounter unfolds, confluences are dynamic doorways of change where differences dissolve and connections weave together in innovative ways. Confluences are places of transformation in the lives of the landscapes and waterscapes, and for everyone and everything downstream.
In our Bone Throwing Ceremony, we were shown how we are living in a time and place with all sorts of energies meeting up, swirling around, interacting, dismantling, rearranging, and crafting new forms. The familiar paths and usual patterns aren’t holding in place. There isn’t a singular well-defined current or purpose or momentum or directional flow.
The confluence we are immersed in is filled with mystery. We’re in a space of great aliveness and unlimited possibility, beyond logic and expectations and entrenched patterns of the past. This is an essential bridging between what has been with what’s emerging and being shaped and brought to life.
Some of the currents of change are apparent and visible to the human eye and mind. We’ve been conditioned to focus on the surface of things, outward appearances, external evidence. We’ll convince ourselves we understand the whole picture based on what our physical senses can sense.
Yet much of the dynamic flow of change ~ the spiraling currents sweeping things away and revealing what’s been hidden and conjuring things up ~ is happening in the depths beneath the surface. The invisible and unseen, the inner world, the undercurrents, are often devalued and ignored in our contemporary world.
Spirits are calling us to remember our capacity to dig deeper, look wider, pause and listen with wide-open senses to discern the rivers of energy we’re joining up with. We can choose the direction we’re heading and how we’re going about getting there. We can be attentive to clarifying what we allow in, hold onto, release, follow as guidance, make more of, and share.
We’ve been conditioned to be swayed by dominating perspectives and uninvestigated beliefs about what is or isn’t happening, about what is or isn’t possible, and how life should/shouldn’t/only can be. The Spirits are guiding us to expand our curiosity, to listen, feel, and quest for information from diverse sources, points of view, physical and nonphysical realms. We can explore the universe of choices that lives just a breath away, beyond our own and others’ judgments, expectations, and assumptions.
Much much more is possible than addictive patterns and quick-fix solutions. Much much more is happening beyond, beneath, and out of sight of the bold and brash headline news.
You can purposefully fill yourself up with lovingness, with curiosity and awe, with attentiveness to healing, with innovative weavings of relationships filled with integrity and respect. These currents of energy will fill you up and radiate on and on, becoming visible waves of energy carried in your words and actions and changes made through the flow of everyday life.
Your love and wonder, creativity and care, passion for well-being and a thriving web of life, can be the undercurrents you steadily contribute to any circumstance. This empowering brilliant flowing river of energy will have wide-ranging ripple effects.
You can add peace and stillness. Slow down the rush. Pause and reflect. Make gathering places and eddying pools along the pathways of change. We don’t have to churn up turbulence just because somebody else did, or get helplessly swept away by somebody else’s purpose and path and flow.
In the dynamic confluences of this time on our earth, in the watery realms of creation, in the fertile spaciousness of the womb, the intelligence of life perpetually seeks to co-create, innovate, regenerate, and transform. Life is seeking to set itself free. It’s your birthright to be free. It is everybody’s birthright to be free ~ whales, hummingbirds, humans, wolves, rivers, and willow trees.
What direction are you heading as we move through the confluence?

Who are your collaborators and companions bringing along their unique perspectives and gifts?
What sources of guidance and bodies of knowledge are you seeking and awakening and sharing along the way?
We’re being called to remember the sacred blueprint of the human heart ~ and let this be our guide in building heart-centered lives, heart-centered relationships, and a heart-centered world.
